Prof. M. Moni


Prof. M. Moni is the Former Director General of National Informatics Centre, a premier Institution of Government of India in the areas of e-Governance and Informatics development. He is M.Sc (Mathematics) and M.Tech (Computer Science). A man of missionary zeal.Prof Moni acknowledged for his significant role in introducing, monitoring and implementation of e-Governance in India.

A Well Known Senior Technocrat in the field of Informatics and e-Governance in the Country, with more than 35 years of experience, having held prestigious assignments, including sharing important responsibilities as Principal Systems Analyst to the Former Finance Minister of India during 1985-88 and his publications/reports/lectures/Addresses (of about 250),have generated academic and research interests in the areas of regional development, agricultural development and informatics development. His advocacy includes research, education, development, training and extension in a holistic manner for mainstreaming ICT for Rural prosperity in India.

He was instrumental in introducing “ICT in District Administration (DISNIC Programme)” for 512+ Districts of India in 1987 and “ICT for Agriculture (IT4Ag)” in 1995 in the country.airman of the Task Force on IT in Agriculture of the Government of Jharkhand 2007-08; and the Chairman of Sub-Group on “IT and ICT usage in Agricultural data, at Agro-Climatic level, and also in Small Area farm business” of National Statistical Commission, Government of India, 2011.

After his superannuation, he is associated as Professor Emeritus (Agricultural Informatics & e-Governance), and Chairman, Centre for Agricultural Informatics & e-Governance Research Studies, Department of Agri-Informatics Engineering, Shobhit University.

He is associated with FITS as Co-chairman, FITS National Council on Information Technology.
